About Omites Project
Omites Project is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the African immigrant and BIPOC community. Based in Farmington, we offer vital services to help individuals and organizations thrive. Our key initiatives focus on technical assistance for small businesses and nonprofits, health equity programs to address social determinants of health, and social care advocacy to support our community’s needs.
We believe in providing equal access to resources and opportunities for everyone, and we’re committed to closing the economic and healthcare gap that disproportionately affects BIPOC communities. Our mission is to uplift and empower through education, resources, and meaningful support, fostering a more just and equitable society.
Why We Started
Omites Project was founded with a clear mission in mind: to identify and close the economic and healthcare gap in the African immigrant community. The events of the past year have only reinforced the importance of our work. The COVID-19 pandemic has magnified the gap that exists in communities of color, particularly when it comes to healthcare and access to resources.
As a nonprofit organization based in Farmington, we’re committed to supporting the BIPOC community in the Twin Cities. Our main services include technical assistance to help small businesses and non-profits succeed, health equity initiatives to address social determinants of health, and social care services to advocate for our community. Empowering the BIPOC Community
It’s no secret that systemic racism has plagued our country for generations. Communities of color have been denied access to opportunities and resources that are crucial for success and advancement. Supporting the BIPOC community is not only the right thing to do, it’s essential for building a more just and equitable society. By supporting the BIPOC community, we can help close the economic and healthcare gap that exists. We can provide resources, education, and opportunities that can make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families.
By investing in the BIPOC community, we can build a stronger and more resilient society that values diversity, inclusion, and equality. At the same time, it’s important to acknowledge that supporting the BIPOC community is not just about charity or pity. It’s about recognizing the contributions, talents, and potential of individuals who have been systematically oppressed for far too long. It’s about creating a society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed and thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.
