Why We Started

Why We Started

Omites Project was founded with a clear mission in mind: to identify and close the economic and healthcare gap in the African immigrant community. The events of the past year have only reinforced the importance of our work. The COVID-19 pandemic has magnified the gap that exists in communities of color, particularly when it comes to healthcare and access to resources.
As a nonprofit organization based in Farmington, we're committed to supporting the BIPOC community in the Twin Cities. Our main services include technical assistance to help small businesses and non-profits succeed, health equity initiatives to address social determinants of health, and social care services to advocate for our community. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to resources and support, and we're committed to empowering our community with the tools and skills they need to thrive.
